Thirteen mountain peaks surround the
impregnable fortress of Kumbalgarh (54 Kms) height 3281 ft. Seven massive
gateways pierce the massive walls of the second prominent fortress of
Mewar (after Chittorgarh) The young Udai Singh founder of Udaipur took
shelter here from his treacherous uncles Emperor Akbar was defeated by
these walls dotted with cannnon balls and the most romantic of princes
Prithviraj died within these walls betrayed by his brother-in-law.
